Vesak Day

Last Saturday the 10th May, I was out to dinner with some friends in Wodonga when we stumbled across the celebrations for Vesak Day at Junction Square. This day commemorates Buddha's birth, enlightenment and death for followers of the Theravada Buddhist tradition and the beautiful lanterns are part of the celebrations. The Sri Lankan community of Albury Wodonga were so welcoming as we walked up - they invited us to have some free food and a hot drink; they also chatted to us all about Buddhism and the importance of Vesak day in their community. What a warm & welcoming vibe they brought to Wodonga!
